This building was originally a Victorian abattoir, and since then has been a nightclub and bar amongst other uses.
The project converted the building into 8 flats, the 2 ground floor flats using a sculptural green oak pod within the body of the plan to form the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen areas.
This pod was sunk into the floor giving additional headroom in this area, with the original fabric of the building revealed in selected areas without compromising the thermal and acoustic improvements to the building.
The dramatic spaces created by subdividing the large open warehouse volume work together to create an exciting living environment in this warehouse conversion.
