Holly Lodge
Holly Lodge is an 18 bed residential care home for older persons with learning difficulties. The property is sub-divided into three self contained units, providing accommodation for six residents each. The three units are linked via the shared facilities that includes a multi-purpose activity space snoozeloon and staffing facilities.
To assist the clients' perspective of the design and to assist the planning process, computer generated 3D imagery was utilised against the existing background.
This computer generated image was then transformed into the as-built construction.
The site topography and Local Authority Planning influenced the design to reduce the impact of a predominantly single storey building on this particular site. This resulted in some elements of the structure being concealed behind gabion retaining structures and the use of Sedum roof covering.
Many alternative materials were utilised to provide variation to the building facade's.
